Like most other aroids, Monstera are prolific climbers and will produce fantastic growth if you give them something to climb up, like a moss pole or wood stake. In nature, you will find them nestled into tree branches or crawling along the rainforest floor throughout Central and South America. They often will push out thick, woody aerial roots that are hoping to attach themselves to a surface in order to gain size.
Soil: Monstera grow best in a well draining soil (a good chunky mix of coco coir, earthworm castings or peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark). Great for propagating or training to climb up a trellis.
Water: Water when the top half of the soil feels dry and when you start to notice the leaves feeling a bit more floppy. You may also notice some slight leaf wilt or wrinkling in the stems. Generally, Monstera are very forgiving with being underwatered, but not so much when they are overwatered.
Light: Monsteras thrive best in bright indirect light. Some are more tolerant than others to lower light conditions.
